Chubb is the first insurer to be awarded Chartered Insurer status in the UK. Chartered status is an exclusive title awarded by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) to firms which meet rigorous criteria relating to professionalism and capability.
Commenting on the award, Dr Alexander Scott, CEO of the CII said:
“Chartered Insurers must ensure employees acquire and retain the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver the highest quality advice. They must also work in an ethical manner that places clients’ interests at the heart of the advice they give and commit to a programme of continuous learning – CPD.
“There is clear evidence that achieving Chartered status enables firms to attract and retain the best staff. Talented professionals want to work for ambitious, principled organisations, and Chartered status is a clear indicator of the professional standing of a potential employer.”
Stuart Payne, Vice President and USC Manager said: “Our Underwriting and Service Centre has clear processes, structure and career paths. As a client-focused organisation, we recognise the need to offer our employees the support they need to be experts in their role and we will continue to take all steps necessary to empower our people to service our clients more effectively. Our partnership with CII will undoubtedly help us to achieve these aims.
“Chubb was the first company to win this award because its Underwriting Service Centre met all the Chartered requirements. Every member of the senior management team is professionally qualified; 100% of staff are members of the CII and professionally qualified at the appropriate level or working towards qualification. There is also detailed training and ongoing professional development in place for all staff and the centre complies with all regulatory requirements.”
Chubb is now keen to secure Chartered status for its UK and Ireland claims operation.
