One of the many benefits of being a member of the Personal Finance Society is the opportunity to participate in your local region. We have twenty five regions, run by committees of member-elected volunteers, who operate at a local level throughout the UK to support the Society in achieving its core objectives.
As a member you can now attend FREE quarterly regional meetings. These may be half or full day conferences that combine professional development, technical training and hot-topic sessions with interactive case studies. As well as being eligible for continuing professional development (CPD) credits, these meetings provide an excellent opportunity to meet and network with fellow professionals. Many regions also organise a range of additional meetings and events tailored to the needs of members in their region.
Our regional network is also essential in helping to maximise the effectiveness and success of many new initiatives that we are involved in. Examples include the facilitation of study groups, volunteering to participate in Citizens' Advice Money Plan Project and working with schools to improve the financial education and awareness of young people.
Members that are passionate about advocating professionalism often seek election to one of three volunteer committee positions:
Chairperson - A one year post with overall responsibility for driving new local initiatives, regional communications and activities that help the Society meet its objectives;
Vice chairperson - A one year post that acts as an understudy and support to the chair;
Membership officer – A one year post focused on engaging a diverse mix of members, together with facilitating the recruitment of new members;
Education officer – A two to three year post with responsibility for maximising the development, training and competency of members.
